About PM-KISAN
Launched in February 2019, the PM-KISAN scheme provides annual financial assistance of ?6,000 to eligible farmer families across India. The amount is credited directly to beneficiaries' bank accounts in three installments of ?2,000 each, promoting transparency and reducing delays in fund transfers.
According to the government, the scheme has already disbursed more than ?4.47 lakh crore to eligible farmers since its launch, making it one of India's largest direct income support programmes.
What This Means for Farmers
The five-year extension ensures uninterrupted financial assistance for millions of farmers across the country. By continuing direct income support, the government aims to improve farmers' financial security, encourage agricultural productivity, and support rural livelihoods.
The extension is expected to benefit crores of eligible farming families while maintaining the existing benefit structure and payment mechanism.
